Through my academic research on corporate social responsibility and sustainability I have become a firm believer that business, and more broadly the economy, is the priority pathway through which positive change towards global sustainability initiatives can be achieved. The more I learn and work in this space, the clearer it becomes that systems thinking is a necessary perspective through which to achieve and amplify this impact. Through my previous research roles, the need for increased interdisciplinarity, collaboration and systems thinking approaches became apparent, and through my project management roles in the non-profit sector I saw the value of systems-thinking approaches in application. I am thankful to be part of the Innovation North team where I will be able to continue to learn and contribute my learning to meaningful projects that enhance our systems innovation and more broadly improve sustainability efforts for our future.
